Sean Jones Is The Starter At Safety & It’s A Good Thing

Sean Jones in the endzoneThe Eagles have a better defensive team now as compared to earlier in the season because veteran safety Sean Jones is now a starter.

Jones stood out on the Eagles defense in the game against the Giants because he was the most aggressive tackler on the field.  He plays with an anger which is needed on this defense.

It took him awhile to decipher the defense but he is by far the best safety on the football team next to Quintin Mikell.  The Eagles now have two grown men playing the safety position.

In my opinion, rookie Macho Harris was out there merely trying not to make any mistakes.  Second year man Quintin Demps was out there making too many mistakes.

Jones makes tackle versus the JetsLast Sunday Jones saw him attack Giants huge halfback Brandon Jacobs the way a strong safety is supposed to do.  He headbutted him and threw him to the ground in an angry way.

He went after Jacobs like he caught him stealing and slammed him to the ground.

That aggressiveness is needed by this defense.  You need a head-hunter at the safety posiition because it make wide receivers drop some passes they other wise would catch.

I think Jones will take advantage of any chance he gets to pound the Cowboys receivers and their running backs.

I know the Eagles like their young safeties, Harris and Demps, believe they’re going to be able to help them in the future, but right now Jones is the guy who should be in there.
