The Eagles shocked the sports world when they went out and signed Michael Vick.
They told us that he was going to revolutionize the game and be used in the wildcat offense to give the Eagles a boost when they needed it most.
So far all of that talk about Vick and the wild cat offense has been nothing but talk.
I do think the wildcat can help the Eagles but it doesn’t involve Michael Vick. They need to use at times on short yardage and goalline situations with their running backs at the quarterback position rather than Vick.
The Birds should put fullback Leonard Weaver in the wildcat on third down and one with big Nick Cole or another of their guards back there with him. Cole should attack one side of the defensive line and Weaver should be right behind him.
I don’t think there are many teams in the league who can stop them from getting the first down.
The wildcat offense gives the Birds an extra blocker which is extremely important on short yardage situations.
Defenses know you’re going to run the football for the most part on third and one, so you’re not really letting them have an advantage because you’re in the wildcat.
Dallas got into the wildcat in the red zone and ran the ball into the endzone but snapping the ball to running Tashard Choice and utilizing the extra blocker to get an advantage on the Philadelphia defense.
For that reason, the Cowboys got more out of the wildcat in the game than the Eagles and they didn’t sign Michael Vick and give him a multi-million dollar contract. It’s kind of ironic, isn’t it.
