Is Donovan McNabb avoiding throwing the ball to DeSean Jackson because the receiver is getting more popular than him?
I don’t know think that is the case but I have had people asking me that question.
I was on the 610-WIP morning show at 7:30am on Tuesday morning and Angelo Cataldi asked me a question about McNabb not throwing to Jackson because he was becoming such a big star.
Of course Terrell Owens accused McNabb of not throwing him the ball enough because he was becoming such a big star. If you asked me, McNabb threw the ball to Owens too much, not too little.
Again I don’t think this is McNabb’s motivation, but I can tell you I don’t like the way he has accepted Andy Reid’s philosophy of spreading the ball around and not making more of an effort to get the ball to your best players.
For years the Eagles have pushed the philosophy that we don’t need any great receivers. This is as stupid as saying we don’t need great players at other positions.
Great players can make plays that other players can’t.
Every time Jackson touches the ball, he’s a threat to take it the distance.
Few players in the NFL can explode through a defense like Jackson. One of the main goals of their weekly video study should be getting the ball into the hands of DeSean Jackson.
If players are all the same and it doesn’t matter whether you get the ball to your better players or not, then why do teams spend the millions and millions of dollars to select the right players through the draft.
There’s a reason that the teams with the best players win the games.
DeSean Jackson is a special player and they should be trying to get the ball to him.
