Brian Westbrook practiced again today and he looks good. I think he’s going to be a major factor in the game.
There’s no way the Chargers are spending a lot of time preparing for Westbrook and I expect him to have a big game.
San Diego is getting ready for all those downfield throws by the Birds.
Todd Herremans took all of the work at left tackle, but Andy says there’s still a chance that Jason Peters could play on Sunday.
Peters told us after the practice that he will play.
He may be able to do just that because he came back and played after getting his ankle rolled up on in the Dallas Cowboys.
Reid said the Chargers defense has a lot in common with the Dallas Cowboys because Wade Phillips was their defensive coordinator before becoming head coach of the Cowboys.
Their outside linebackers Shawn Merriman and Shaun Phillips are the top pass rushers on their defense and the guys the Birds have to monitor.
They also have some quality players in areas of their defense, namely cornerback Antonio Cromartie.
He’s got great size for a corner and he runs like a gazelle so I could see the Chargers trying to match him up on DeSean Jackson in much the same way the Cowboys did with Terrence Newman.
I think the X factor in the Eagles offfense’s match up with the Chargers could be Westbrook. If the Birds could get the ball to him in open field, he could make them pay for focusing on stopping Jackson.
LeSean McCoy has done a good job taking Westbrook’s place but he doesn’t the have the speed which Westbrook has.
Like in other game, the Eagles offensvie line will be the key to their offensive success. If they can give McNabb plenty of time, he should be able to find some open targets.
