Chris Gocong Can’t Play Middle Linebacker

Gocong dropping in coverage Guess what folks, Chris Gocong can’t play middle linebacker.

The guy came into the NFL after playing defensive end for four years in college.  They moved him to outside linebacker and that was a major adjustment.

Now they’re asking him to move inside to play middle linebacker after only a weak of practicing at the position.

Remember they’ve got Jeremiah Trotter and Joe Mays sitting on the bench, but they have to ask Gocong to play the position.  That tells me that Trotter and Mays shouldn’t be on the team.

If they can’t help you now, they’ll never be able to help you.

He’s not getting off any blocks.  Every time somebody hits him they stick to him like velcro.

Today the two defensive tackles, Mike Patterson, who is playing hurt, and Brodrick Bunkley, are being blocked easily by the Chargers center and guards.

Not only are they being blocked but they’re being blocked one on one which is leaving a guy free to come off and block Gocong.

Realize that San Diego came into this game with the worst running game in the NFL.
