A good red zone offense is has a run threat. You’ve got to be able make teams respect your running attack.
It’s impossible to run play action passes if the other team doesn’t respect your running game. The Eagles were able to gain only 29 yards in 13 carries.
With these terrible stats on the ground why do they bother running play action fakes. Nobody’s going to buy a play action fake for a team that can only manage 29 yards on 13 carries.
It’s like a counterfeiter trying to pass off a three-dollar bill.
When you have a good running threat it opens up everything else in the red zone. You don’t have much room down there to begin with and you add to that, no run threat.
I just don’t think Stacy Andrews is much of a player at the right guard spot. Either his injured knee hasn’t recovered or he’s just not that good.
I’m starting to think he’s not that good. There’s a reason that Nick Cole starts over him when Peters and Herremans are healthy on the other side.
He doesn’t get any kind of movement at the point of attack and I’ve noticed he gets beat by a pass rusher a few times in each game.
I saw him let a blitzer go by while he blocked nobody.
I did think there was a chance that Eldra Buckley got into the end zone but McNabb said the Chargers pulled the ball out of his hands and it cost the Birds the score.
We all knew that once the Chargers stopped them at the goalline early, the Birds weren’t going to try it again.
