Will The Eagles Stop The Tight End This Week?

Greg Olsen I hope the Eagles learned to cover the tight end on their flight to Chicago. If not they could face more problems on Sunday night.

It seems that every tight end in the league licks his lips when he sees the Eagles on the schedule.  They make all of them look like Pro-Bowlers and they make the Pro Bowlers look like Hall of Famers.

Last week it was San Diego’s Antonio Gates and the week before that it was Dallas’ Jason Witten.

This week the Birds will face another productive tight end in Greg Olsen.  He leads the Bears with six touchdown catches.  They know Jay Cuter will be looking his way when they get in the red zone.

In fact Cutler will be looking his way all night long.  He averages about four catches a game.  He has 34 catches in nine games for 361 yards.

Olsen makes the catch I want to see strongside linebacker Chris Gocong focus on holding him up and delaying his release.  He can’t get any holding penalties but delaying his release will be a key in this game.

Olsen beat Gocong last year for a 19 yard touchdown, so you know the Bears are going to come back to it.

Eagles linebacker Tracy White said the Bears love to run pick plays.  Those are plays where one offensive receiver will intentionally get in the way of the defender who is guarding another receiver.

The Eagles defenders must talk to avoid leaving one of the receivers open.
