The Washington Redskins come to town next week as a battered, beaten-up team.  Put this one right aside the Raiders loss if the Eagles find a way to blow it.
The Redskins announced today that guard Chad Rinehart is headed to injured reserve with a broken fibula that he suffered in Dallas.¬† Here’s the thing, Rinehart wasn’t very good to begin with.¬† That means, someone even more lousy will be playing in his place.¬† This offensive line is a mess.
And who will be running the ball behind that line?¬† Well, I think we know who won’t be.¬† Clinton Portis is out with concussion issues, so scratch him off.¬† Ladell Betts?¬† The Redskins just announced that he is headed to injured reserve as well and that he’ll miss the remainder of the year with a torn MCL and ACL.¬† Hello, Rock Cartwright!
The Redskins big offseason free agent signing, Albert Haynesworth, well he might not play either.¬† He didn’t dress for Sunday’s game against Dallas and that would be a big blow if they don’t have him for Sunday.¬†
“It could be lot better,” Haynesworth said of his bum ankle. “It could be a lot worse.”¬† Kedric Golson started in his place against Dallas and recorded a whopping zero tackles.
And the secondary?¬† It’s bad there too.¬† DeAngelo Hall has a sprained knee and might be down for this week’s game.¬† And they just benched Carlos Rogers two weeks ago against the Broncos for thoroughly stinking up the joint.¬†
This Washington team was pretty bad even when everyone was healthy.  But now, it just seems to be getting worse.
It’s true that the Eagles have been hit hard by injuries too, but this roster is in much better position to deal with the losses than the Redskins’ is.¬†
