Reid Uses A Balanced Attack To Beat The Bears

McCoy running with the footballThe most amazing Eagles stat I saw after the game was thirty-two pass attempts and thirty run attempts.

Pass-happy Andy Reid used a balanced game plan in a situation which he usually opts to go to the passing game exclusively.

Despite Brian Westbrook being out with concussion problems and rookie running back LeSean McCoy having fumbled previously in the game, the Eagles stayed with a balanced attack and beat the Bears.

They drove down to the Bears ten yard line via five throws by McNabb.  Then they did something which was a major surprise.

They gave the ball to McCoy on a play off the left side behind Jason Peters, Todd Herremans, Brent Celek and Leonard Weaver.

McCoy celebrating touchdown He was heading inside when originally he got the football, but he decided to take the ball further outside and it tricked Bears Hunter Hillenmeyer linebacker, who thought he was going inside.

Peters didn’t have the best block on the play but he stayed on it.  Weaver slipped through to get a hit on Hillenmeyer.

Celek stayed on his block

It’s even more amazing that the Birds wound up winning the game on a ten yard run inside the red zone.

Everyone will talk about the call but execution is always the most important factor.  You could have the right play called but if it’s not executed properly, then it won’t work.
