Eagles pull plug on Ikegwuonu

The Eagles announced today that they have signed CB Geoffrey Pope, formerly of the Cincinnati Bengals.  To make room for Pope, they decided to part ways with Jack Ikegwuonu.

Ikegwuonu dropped to the fourth round in the 2008 draft mainly because he shredded his knee while preparing for the combine.  There was also an issue where he and his brother were accused of stealing an XBox in college.  That has since been resolved.  It was thought that once his knee healed that maybe they could be getting a first-round talent some three rounds later.  That never turned out to be the case.

Pope appeared in four games this year with the Bengals, mostly on special teams.  He was waived on October 8th and then signed to the practice squad.  He came into the league as a rookie free agent with the Dolphins in 2007.
