Arenas: System For Passers & Shooters, Not Athletes

Lou Williams takes ball to the hoopThe Sixers lost a close one, 108-107, last night to the Washington Wizards as Lou Williams’ jumper rolled off the rim.

Katie Fagan of Philly.com reports that after the game head coach Eddie Jordan and the Sixers took an even greater shot from the comments of Wizards superstar Gilbert Arenas.

When asked about the offensive system of Sixers head coach Eddie Jordan, he responded. “You need five passers, five shooters,” said Arenas, who played under Jordan for five years. “Athletes don’t work in that offense, to be honest.”

This is surely not what coach Jordan wanted to hear.  He couldn’t say anything worse, other than if he came out and said the system didn’t fit the Sixers personnel.

Young ties of Holladay Let’s be honest, Stevie Wonder could see that the Sixers have a roster full of athletes and don’t have many passers and shooters.

Most of their young players on the squad are athletes such as Andre Iguodala, Thaddeus Young, Lou Williams and Jrue Holliday.

On the other hand, I think these guys will get better as shooters and passers if they put in the work.

Still Arenas didn’t give the Sixers matching of Jordan and this roster a ringing endorsement.
