Former Eagle Jon Runyan has signed with the San Diego Chargers and in a couple of weeks he will take over as their starting right tackle.
Runyan let it be known after he had off season microfracture surgery on one of knees that he was still eager and willing to play some where in the National Football League.
He had been shown the door by the Birds after his contract had run out with the ball club. The Birds thought he was too old and had too much mileage on his body to make it a good business move to resign him.
They said good bye and Runyan focused on his rehab. He pushed himself on a daily basis to get back to point where he felt he could go out there and do the job.
The Eagles brought him and worked him out but didn’t offer him a deal. A few other ball clubs took a look at him but didn’t make him an offer.
But this time, Runyan got an offer and he took it.
Shawn Andrews was penciled in to be Runyan’s replacement at right tackle but we all know that didn’t work out, so the door was opened for Winston Justice to step in and he has taken advantage of the situation.
Ironically, Justice signed a four year extension on the same day Runyan was given another chance to show he could still do the job as a right tackle in the NFL.
