Andy Reid started this fire when he called Donovan McNabb a Hall of Fame quarterback and the fire will burn for the next five to ten years.
McNabb threw some logs on it today on his 33rd birthday, he said he believes that a quarterback could qualify for the Hall of Fame without winning a Super Bowl.
McNabb also said he hopes to be still playing football when he’s 38 and 39 like Arizona’s Kurt Warner is doing. He said he also hopes that he’s still playing for the Philadelphia Eagles during the time.
I don’t believe a quarterback should have to win a Super Bowl championship to get in the Hall of Fame. To be honest, it’s really a stupid question because it’s a fact that you don’t have to win a Super Bowl to get in the Hall of Fame.
Dan Fouts, Fran Tarkenton, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly and Warren Moon all are in the Hall of Fame without winning a Super Bowl.
I’ll also tell you that Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Joe Theisman, Doug Williams and Jeff Hostetler led their teams to Super Bowl victories but will never get in the Hall of Fame.
Does the fact that one quarterback’s running game or defense helps them win a Super Bowl, make them better than another quarterback? I don’t think so.
I understand people who identify McNabb’s deficiencies, but you can’t deny his accomplishments at the same time.
Tell me the last time that the Eagles defense has scored on defense in a championship game. The Pittsburgh Steelers do it all the time.
Also tell me the last time the Eagles running game got 100 yards in a championship game. Again the Steelers do it all the time.
Tell me the last time, McNabb got the chance to throw to Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, or Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce. It’s not as hard to look good when you’re throwing to two Pro Bowl receivers in the prime of their career.
I think football is such an ultimate team sport that one can grab whatever type of opinion one wants to grab.
I’m commenting to let you be aware of of the amazing discovery my child developed browsing the blog. She came to find a good number of details, including how it is like to have a great coaching character to get a number of people clearly completely grasp a number of advanced issues. You actually did more than her desires. I appreciate you for churning out such beneficial, dependable, edifying and cool guidance on that topic to Emily.
