It’s love him or hate him with Eagles Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel and most Philadelphia Eagles fans.
He’s either picking off a pass to set up a victory or he’s missing a tackle to give a key touchdown.
He was playing with a sore neck yesterday, so you know he wasn’t going to hit anybody.
At the same time, Asante was at his pickpocketing best.
Samuel registered two interceptions which put the Birds in great position and set up two field goals that put the Eagles ahead at halftime.
The interceptions were much alike. Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell made the mistake of staring down his receiver.
That’s always a mistake when you’re throwing to the left side of the Eagles defense. On the first pick Samuel didn’t have to go all the way to the ground, on the second one he did.
The first time he got his hands on the ball, Samuel had a chance to take it back for a score but Eagles backer Will Witherspoon cut him down, when he dove while trying to knock the pass down.
After the game, Samuel didn’t mince words when he talked about being brought here to make big plays. Nobody told him about tackling.
Maybe it true what somebody told me. Tackling isn’t in his deal. It’s all about intercepting passes, plain and simple.
