Phillies sign Schneider

The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to a deal with free-agent catcher Brian Schneider.  Schneider spent the last two years torturing New York Mets fans as he pretended to be a starter.

At least now in Philly he’ll just be a backup to Carlos Ruiz.¬† Like most Mets, he was injured last year, but when he did play he hit a scorching .218 and flexed his power with three bombs over 59 games.

I lived up there for most of his time with the Mets and watched him quite a bit.¬† All I can say to Philly fans is, “get ready!”¬† You thought Cliff Lee was a great acquisition?¬†¬†

Ok, I’m playing around, the good news is the Phillies aren’t asking him to start.¬† He’s fine as a backup with a .251 career average.¬†
