Now Allen Iverson has the ball in his hands. He has been offered a non-guaranteed one-year contract by the Sixers at the veteran minimuim of $1.3 million. will either accept or reject it.
Iverson could look at the offer as a sign of disrespect or he could look at it as a chance to prove that he can still score at will and be one of the most entertaining players in the league.
The Answer was the best audience draw in the history of 76ers basketball. He drew fans better than Wilt Chamberlain, Dr. J. and Charles Barkley and the Sixers are gambling that he can still do it.
On the otherhand, the Sixers know how disruptive Iverson can be.
They know he could miss practices, come late for games and totally disrespect their head coach Eddie Jordan and general manager Ed Stefanski.
They know that Iverson will have problems working in Jordan’s Princeton offense.
Iverson would have to be on the team on Januray 10th in order to guarantee that he will be paid the entire contract.
