I see a nine-hundred pound guerilla in the living room, but nobody is talking about it and nobody acknowledges what happened on Sunday.
I didn’t hear one question today about how the Eagles receiver, who has caught the most passes so far this season is now going to be able to catch the football despite not being able to catch it on Sunday.
Eagles tight end Brent Celek couldn’t catch the football on Sunday. Despite all of the great development that’s been taking place on this football team, the progression of Celek is one of the best things that has happened.
McNabb has been able to rely on him for third conversions and first down strikes against run defenses. He couldn’t do it on Sunday and you could plainly see how it affected the football team.
The Eagles had a few three and outs in the third quarter of Sunday’s game, mainly because tight end Celek was playing with an injured hand and couldn’t catch the football.
McNabb threw it to him about three or four times in successive plays but he couldn’t come down with the catch.
I know he just signed his big contract and he is a Pro Bowler in the making but he can’t catch the football with one hand.
Will he be healthy enough on Sunday to make those catches?
That’s a major problem when you consider that DeSean Jackson is for all intents and purposes out of this game. He was Donovan McNabb’s number one deep threat.
Celek’s hand is hurt to the point that I don’t know that it helps the team to have him out there and be throwing the ball to him.
I saw the start of practice today and he was practicing today but he had his hand all bandaged up. I didn’t see him catch the football.
This is a very winnable game for the Birds will Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan sidelined and halfback Michael Turner in danger of not playing as well.
It’s a lot to ask for the Birds to be able to get the job done without Jackson but to ask them to win without but Jackson and Celek may be too much to ask.
