Sources tell the Daily News’ David Murphy that the Phillies have agreed to a three-year, $18 million deal with 3B Placido Polanco.¬†
The Phils declined the $5.5 million option on Pedro Feliz and will pay an extra $500k to Polanco to man the hot corner.¬† While his batting average has declined steadily over the last three years, Polanco’s .285 batting average is much more digestible than Feliz’ .266.¬†

Polanco’s power leaves a lot to be desired, but Feliz never showed the power here that he did in San Francisco.¬† Also, Polanco’s higher average will help keep things going towards the bottom of the order as opposed to Feliz’ double-play special.
