According to Ken Davidoff’s Twitter page, the Phillies and Cliff Lee have begun talks on a contract extension.
“Cliff Lee’s agent Darek Braunecker says there have been “very preliminary” talks with #Phillies about extension,” he tweets.

Right now, the Phillies have Lee under contract for this year at a nice $9 million salary.  After being acquired by the Phils, Lee was 7-4 with a 3.39 ERA in 12 start.  He then went on to mow down everyone in his path in the playoffs, going 4-0 with a 1.56 ERA.
With the team unsure of what exactly Cole Hamels is right now, it’s very important to lock up Lee.¬†
