According to numerous websites, including Philly.com and Foxsports.com, Roy Halladay is in Philadelphia with his agent.
Rumors continue to swirl that he is in town to talk about a long-term extension with the Phillies and take a physical.  Foxsports say that it could be a potential three-team deal and that Cliff Lee could be dealt in a trade.
Lee is set to make $9 this season and they might need to move his salary to help pay Halladay.¬† I’m not sure I want to see Lee go away in a move like this, but I’ll reserve judgment until I see what the deal and circumstances are.¬† But regardless, this story is getting red hot and a deal could be coming soon.
It’s possible that Lee would be sent to a third team so that the Phillies could acquire the right prospects to bring in Halladay.¬† It also may save them from using some of their own prospects, like the guys who were discussed at the trade deadline this year.¬† It might be worth it if they can save Drabek, Happ, Dom Brown and Michael Taylor.¬†¬†
The identity of the mysterious third team isn’t known, but it very well could be the Anaheim Angels, who may be close to losing John Lackey to the Boston Red Sox.¬†
Stay tuned on this one.
