Let me tell you early that this week’s upcoming game is going to be a tough matchup for the Eagles offense.
San Francisco shut down the Arizona Cardinals and their high potent passing attack last night by forcing seven turnovers and beating the Cards 24-9.
This Sunday the Eagles will take on a Niners team which will be fighting for their playoff lives, so this will be a playoff game for them.
It’s only Tuesday and I know Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg are feeling pretty good about themselves and the game plan they put together for the Giants, but the matchups will be tougher this Sunday.
The Niners are going to get up in DeSean Jackson’s face and try to beat him up as he comes off the line of scrimmage. He’s going to be double-teamed all afternoon long.
He’s going to have somebody in his hip pocket. They know they can’t run with Jackson so you can believe that they’re to going to try to make it a fist-fight.
The Eagles must run some pick plays and have Brent Celke, Jason Avant or Alex Smith pick off Jackson’s man, so he can get loose in the secondary. They’ve got to put him in motion make it hard for the Niners to double him.
They’re going to have to mix it up by getting the ball to Celek, Avant, Reggie Brown and possibly kevin Curtis.
They can’t abandon the running game but must keep Niners off balanced with the run and the pass.
Most importantly they must stay away from turnovers.
These guys tackle the football like the Bears did so LeSean McCoy must be ready to keep two hands on the football at all times.
As for the defense, I’ll write that in another article…..
