You’ve got Andy Reid chest-bumping with a second-year receiver after touchdowns. Donovan McNabb cheers a quarterback who takes him off the field on the goalline.
Something special is happening at the Eagles Nova Care Complex. There’s a chemistry developing on this team that I haven’t seen before on an Andy Reid squad.
This group has Reid’s foundation of work and focus, but the young players have brought excitement and talent that has put a sparkle in both Reid and McNabb’s eyes.
They’re having fun and this group is right where they want to be with three games remaining and they’re not even close to peaking.
You can expect him to be willing to take chances with games on the line. Hee’s got his extension and he believes in the talent on this ball club.
McNabb is the leader of the offense. Many of his teammates grew up watching him on television. He’s the one player who knows the offense backwards and forward, so who do you think they go to when they’re not sure about something.
McNabb’s treatment of Michael Vick and his willingness to come off the field with the game on the line during big plays on short yardage or near the goalline has endeared him to his teammates.
The guys are rooting for Vick and each other which has brought them together.
Fullback Leonard Weaver has stepped into a leadership role despite being here less than a year. He’s been a stabilizer, who has helped the young players mature and learn how to be true pros.
The offensive line seems to be hitting their stride. There’s something about a running game that does miracles for the aggressive and confidence of an offensive line.
Most importantly, the Eagles offense is no where near peaking with three games remaining.
Brian Westbrook, Kevin Curtis and Jeremy Maclin will likely be added to their vast array of weapons before the season ends.
And I’m starting to see glimpses of Vick’s speed the more he plays.
It’s week 14 and this offense is getting better and better. How many teams around the league can say that?
