Niners safety Michael Lewis has probably been having trouble sleeping this weekend. He surely didn’t enjoy seeing footage of the Eagles game versus the Giants, this past Sunday night.
He saw New York safety Aaron Ross get caught one-on-one versus Eagles speedy receiver DeSean Jackson. It was no contest as Jackson left him eating dust on his way to a 60 yard touchdown catch.
Lewis saw his career with the Eagles ended by a similar play against the New Orlenas Saints. Sean Payton found a way to get then New Orleans top receiver Joe Horn deep into the Eagles secondary and one-on-one with Lewis.
It was a similar mismatch which resulted in a touchdown and led Jim Johnson to sour on Lewis and that quickened his exit from Philadelphia.
Guess what, Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg have spent all week thinking up ways to recreate Lewis’ nightmare. If they can get Jackson deep and in a man to man situation with Lewis or the Niners other safety, Dashon Goldson.
Once Jackson scares the Niners secondary with his speed it should open the intermediate areas.
I expect to see the Niners come after Donovan McNabb. The Birds will try to catch them in a blitz and hurt them with a big play.
Lewis and Goldson will be in man to man situations on many of these plays, but McNabb will pressured to get rid of the football.
I think this will be the key to the game early. If the Birds draw first blood, it’s going to be difficult for Lewis and his Niner teammates to stay with them.
I am also commenting to let you know of the helpful encounter my friend’s daughter found reading through your web page. She figured out numerous issues, not to mention what it’s like to have an amazing giving mood to have men and women really easily have an understanding of selected impossible subject areas. You really exceeded our own expectations. Many thanks for imparting the interesting, safe, explanatory and even easy thoughts on the topic to Janet.
