Field Conditions Will Have Major Affect On The Game

The field conditions today could have a major affect upon the game.  The key will be whether the players can get traction when the plant and cut.

If it’s very sloppy it could help the Niners a great deal.  If the conditions make it a running game then it’s doing the Niners a favor.

The Eagles will have no problem throwing the football as long as they can plant and cut.

If it’s a little sloppy it could help the Eagles because it will make it harder for Niners defenders to keep their footing.  Still the Birds need to try to keep some balance in their offense.

They should try to run the football effectively because it will make it nearly impossible for the Niners linebackers to do a good job against play action passes.

Once they committ toward the line of scrimmage, they would be slipping and falling when they try to change direction and get back to stop the pass.

A windy day isn’t what the Birds want.  They want little wind and the field in good enough condition so they can run their passing game.

The San Francisco 49ers are really a running team.  They are best when they’re playing good defense and handing the ball to running back Frank Gore.  I think he’s got good enough foot quickness to be able to run effectively on a bad field.

He’s probably had plenty of practice running on wet fields while playing in San Francisco.

Niner quarterback Alex Smith is not consistent and he’s prone to making mistakes.  

They can’t ride their passing game to a victory, so they’ll have to keep the game close and make sure Gore is a factor.

You’ll be able to tell how wet the field is, after a couple of series.
