The Alibis You Have For Dawk, He Wouldn’t Use

Dawkins on the sidelineI wasn’t surprised at the anger and emotion expressed in the comments after the previous article about Brian Dawkins, but the truth is the truth.

Maybe some of you think Brian Dawkins was God who came to earth as a man but I don’t and he doesn’t either.

What is so wrong and evil about judging one player by six games in his career and then judging another player by those same six games?

You can talk all you want about the Eagles offense in all of those games, but if you look at the defense, they didn’t play their best football in those games.  I’ve looked at the tapes numerous times.

They should put them on television here in Philadelphia and we would see that the defense didn’t force turnovers in those games.

You can choose to blame one person for all of those losses but Brian Dawkins, himself doesn’t choose to do that.

When you’re a player and your team loses you realize that there were plays you could have made.  Everybody might be talking about somebody else but you go home and tell the Mrs. that you could have played better to help the team win.

I know because I have been through it myself.  No alibis, no excuses.

I saw Dawk makes plays as both a tackler, intercepter, bltizer and leader that have amazed me, but I can’t change the truth about those championship games.

I can remember talking to Coach Jim Johnson about the disappointment of the defense not playing their best ball in those championship games.

It hurt then and still hurts now.

There were losses which I experienced as a player, that are still disappointing, but that doesn’t change the facts that I didn’t play good enough to win.
