Eagles Secondary Must Tackle Much Better

Samuel intercepting a pass Asante Samuel has nine inter- ceptions and Sheldon Brown has five and one of them for a touchdown.

Teams are reluctant to throw the ball at them but they’re comfortable with throwing the ball outside short and letting the receivers run with it from there.

It’s a clear focus on the Eagles tackling.  They’re not tackling consistently and they must correct it or they’re going pay a price for it next week and in the playoffs.

Broncos wide receiver Jabar Gaffney caught a pass on the Eagles six-yard line yesterday with three Eagles defenders, Sheldon Brown, Joselio Hanson and Will Witherspoon, standing near him.

Hanson attempted to attack him and wound up knocking Witherspoon and Brown off the play, before Gaffney took the blow then ran into the end zone.

They did do a good job against big, physical Denver wide out Brandon Marshall but they’ve got to do it each time, they get the opportunity.

One of the keys to their upcoming game against the Cowboys will be their ability or inability to tackle the Dallas running backs and wide receivers.

This is especially true of big and physical Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin, who makes a living breaking tackles and turning short throws into big plays.
