McNabb & Reid Came Through When Chips Were Down

McNabb lets it go I hope we have finally heard the last of the foolishness about Donovan McNabb being unable to bring a team back in the fourth quarter.  Of course having a number of playmaking wide receivers helps a great deal.

McNabb’s throw to Jeremy Maclin was a thing of beauty and it couldn’t have been thrown any better.

Maclin’s sure hands pulled in the ball and he was able to still keep his feet in bounds.  It was a big-time play.

The game was on the line and the Birds needed a big play and McNabb put it on the money.

McNabb’s throw wasn’t much different than his throw to Kevin Curtis in last year’s NFC Championship game, but the outcome of the play was.

I was also pleased to see Andy Reid make the right decision at the end of the game.

The Eagles had the football on their side of the fifty yard line with fourth down a few yards to go.  There were a little over three minutes to go on the clock and the game was tied.

Akers celebrates winReid was tempted to go for the first down, but he made the right decision and punted the ball to the Broncos.

It was the correct decision because had the Birds gone for the first down and not been able to get it, Denver would have been just twenty yards away from being in position to win the football game.

Punter Sav Rocca came in and did his job by pinning the Broncos back on their own nine yard line, then the defense stopped them on third down and the stage was set for the last drive.

Hopefully the Birds being able to pull out these games with their final drives will help them in the playoffs because they’ll be playing good teams and there will likely be some close games along the way.
