It’s All About Execution On The Offensive Side

Maclin makes a good catchYears ago they asked Tampa Bay head coach John McKay about the execution of his offense and he said, yes I’m in favor of it.

That’s the way a lot of Birds fan feel about today’s Eagles offense and their inability to execute the offense.

They have no one else to blame or lean on except each other if they’re going to come up with a better performance next week in Dallas.

A miracle isn’t needed, they just need to do what they’re capable of and that means making plays when they get the chance.

Blocking, tackling, throwing the football properly and catching the football properly are all that’s needed.

They knew the scenario when they got on the plane to Texas on Saturday. They what to expect when they decided to become an NFL football player.

First of all, they’ve got to be able to run the football more effectively.  That means the big boys up front have got to win the battle when the ball is snapped.

Throwing the ball without a run threat isn’t the answer.  They must get back to a balanced attack.

Celek gets gang tackledI know the coaching staff was shocked by the way the Cowboys went down and scored with the first drive, then mounted another long drive, but they’ve got to avoid the panic.

Abandoning the run isn’t an option.  They must make the Cowboys respect their running attack.

The offense knows the defense they’ll be facing next week, so that should enable them to game plan for it.

McNabb has to get the ball to DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin when they’re open.  He can’t miss them and they can’t drop the ball when they have opportunities to get the ball to them.

Tight end Brent Celek should be able to have another big day because the Cowboys are forced to single cover him with a linebacker.

Leonard Weaver had an opportunity to break a run for some yardage, he’s got to make it happen next week.

Execution will be the key.
