Eagles “O” Coordinator Praising Cowboys As They Prepare

Mornhinweg at practice The Eagles offensive coordinator, Marty Mornhinweg talked to the media around noon today and he had plenty of good things to say about the Cowboys defense.

Mornhinweg talked about the talent of the Dallas front seven and said they might have the best defensive front seven in the NFL.

He gave credit to the Cowboys for preventing the Eagles from making big plays.   He gave them credit for containing DeSean Jackson.

He said they do a great job of getting pressure on the quarterback and shutting down the running game.

‚ÄúThey have one of the very best fronts in this league. I said this last week, I‚Äôm not sure if I‚Äôve seen them all quite yet or studied them in depth, but I suspect this may very well be the very best front. They have some excellent cover guys; great ability at the corner spot.”

“They have some linebackers that have great instincts and they are fast and so they fly around. They are pretty good against the run as well in that 3-4 structure that basically reduces the weakside most of the time. So, they are very good against the run, they give some yards very grudgingly, they can rush the passer and they cover.  That‚Äôs a pretty good combination for a defensive football team.‚Äù

Inspite of that Mornhinweg but says he and his players are confident that his football team will be ready to battle the Cowboys on Saturday.

He didn’t mince words about the fact that his players need to play better but he believes they will.

Andy and Marty He said they had opportunties on Sunday and he expects that they will have opportunities on Saturday.  This time he thinks they will take advantage of those opportunities.

Execution seemed to be where he was pointing.

The playcaller said he thinks he got away from the run a little bit too early.  He wished he had stayed with it abit longer.

‚ÄúI should have ran the ball just a little bit more. Even down by 14 or 17 or, I guess, probably a little bit more. The first game, I went through that again this week, I stayed with it; a little bit more conservative.”

“We ran the ball okay. We got some yards and moved the chains just a little bit. I thought we had some things in the pass game that we could put some heat on them and we just didn‚Äôt get that done.‚Äù

He said his quarterback would like to have some throws back, but he thinks he will play better on Saturday.

He thinks his offensive line will be better this time around because their new center and guard will improve since that was their first game together.

I think this group has a chance to play much better, but they have to do something positive early to get in the end zone.

If they get something going early and get into the end zone, it will put pressure on the Cowboys and they’ll make their share of mistakes.
