While all of the action will take place on the field this Saturday, the game will be decided on the sidelines.
For all of the talk you hear about the greatness of Andy Reid, Wade Phillips and his staff have had their way with him this season.
The Eagles high powered offense averaged almost 30 points this season against teams other then the Cowboys. Dallas held them to just 8 points per game.
The one good thing that happened this Sunday was that the Cowboys will have little need to adjust their game plan, and the Eagles will know what the Cowboys are going to do.
You can bet that Reid and Marty Mornhinweg are in the film room right now trying to create a game plan to counter what the Cowboys did to shut there offense out. The adjustments they are making right now are going to decide this game.
They have to game plan a way to get the ball into DeSean Jackson’s hands more. Dallas has shut him down thus far, holding Jackson to just 5 catches in 2 games this season.
They also have to figure out a way to extend their drives. The Eagles offense has only converted 9 of their 35 third down plays against the Cowboys.
Sean McDermott has got to figure out how to beat his opponent, Dallas offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. Garrett’s unit has lit up McDermott’s this season, throwing for an average of 378 yards, and running the ball for over 130 yards per game.
Reid and his staff have shown they can win in the first round- they are 7-0 going into this game. Wade Phillip has been unable to get a win in his 4 tries as a coach in the playoffs.
How Reid, McDermott and Mornhinweg adjust to what the Cowboys showed them on Sunday will be crucial to winning the rematch this Saturday.
