Maclin With Record-Setting Day, Weaver Has One To Forget

Maclin takes it in for touchdownIt was a record-setting day for Eagles rookie wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.  The youngster caught a total of seven passes for 146 yards and a touchdown.

His first catch came after he ran a nice 15 yard out route against Dallas corner Mike Jenkins.

Eagles wildcat Michael Vick got the ball to him and Jenkins got caught gambling and missed.  It resulted in a long 76 yard touchdown.

Maclin seems to match up better against the Cowboys than DeSean Jackson, because of his size.

The sky’s the limit for this youngster because he has a tremendous skill set which includes both size and speed.  He’s going to get bigger because he’s only 21 years old.

On the downside was Eagles fullback Leonard Weaver.

He had been nothing but a plus this year but the two turnovers he was involved in the second quarter all but ended any chance the Eagles had of winning.

On the first fumble, Weaver was getting an handoff from Michael Vick.  It seemed that Vick hadn’t made up his mind, whether to give the ball to Weaver or hang onto it.  The fumble set up a short Cowboys scoring drive.

On the second fumble, Weaver caught a short pass from McNabb and was trying to advance the ball but Cowboys linebacker Bradie James pulled the ball out.  It killed a chance for the Birds to put some points on the board and made winning nearly impossible.
