You can read the Eagles by what their media mouthpieces say. They don’t want to damage the value of Donovan McNabb, but if they are planning on moving to Kevin Kolb, they will have a strategy of making that appear more attractive.
I personally would be slow to move McNabb because I don’t think it makes sense to give the keys of a $100,000 porsche to an unproven novice.
The Eagles have amassed an oustanding group of explosive weapons and they might be wasting a year of their career by turning the team over the unproven Kolb.
Since the Birds have McNabb under contract for another year, I would lean toward giving him the next year to win it all with this group of weapons. Still I am frustrated at McNabb and the fact that his inaccuracy problem is still there.
This is going to be an Andy Reid decision because I think he’s McNabb’s biggest backer.
If Kolb is given the keys to this offense he will be inheriting more seasoned and explosive weapons than McNabb has ever had.
I think it would be reasonable to suggest that Kolb would go through some growing pains, if and when the offensive line ran into trouble. Can he take the pounding?
Before the Eagles make the decision of whether to move McNabb or not, they have to decipher what was the main reason for their final game loss and playoff loss to the Cowboys.
Was the main reason the inability of the offensive line to handle Dallas? Was it the inability of the recievers to get open? Or was the main problem McNabb’s inaccuracy and inability to find open receivers?
They should look at the tape and make a decision.
If the Eagles think Kolb can hit the ground running and give them a better chance to win, then they should move McNabb and go with him.
Of the course, chances are that the first person they alert to the fact that they want to move McNabb will leak the information to the media, then his value will plummet.
