
Gagne was one of the best closers we’ve ever seen in the early to mid part of the decade.¬† Then the wheels came off the wagon.¬† Say it was steroids or whatever, but this guy just can’t pitch anymore.¬†¬†
“I’m very excited to have this chance,” Gagne said. “There are many players that I know well on that team, including Jayson Werth.”
Gagne pitched in the Can-Am league last year if anyone cares.  And in his last stint in the Majors in 2008, he had a 5.44 ERA in 50 appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers.  
If this was 2004, we should all be doing jumping jacks.¬† But it isn’t so we won’t.¬† I’m not trying to be cynical about this, it just happens that way.¬†
