All Donovan McNabb haters beware, you won’t be happy to find out that McNabb will be going to the Pro Bowl because either Brett Favre or Drew Brees will be busy preparing for the Super Bowl and McNabb is eager to return to the Birds.
The game will be played in Miami next Sunday and McNabb said he wishes he were unavailable for it. McNabb talked about the situation on his Yardbarker blog.
“I wish I was going to be wearing an Eagles uniform in Miami and not just an Eagles helmet. As a Pro Bowl alternate behind Brett Favre, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, I was made aware – although unofficially – I‚Äôm able to go since either Brett or Drew will be playing the following week in the Super Bowl. I‚Äôd gladly trade places with that guy”.
You can see how he thought through every word because he knows it’s going to be picked through by the local media. Of course he finished off his comments with mention of his desire to continue to play here in the city and try to bring a championship home.
“I know there is a lot of talk in Philadelphia about my future but please know one thing – when I came to Philadelphia it was to win a championship for the Eagles,” he wrote. “Given the opportunity, I’d like to finish the job.”
I think McNabb is saying that he wants to be here but the Eagles are the ones in charge. I think this points at his one year contract. I could see McNabb demanding an extension and the Eagles balking at it, which would create a problem that could only be remedied by a trade.
What do you think?
