Can You Trust Roseman To Evaluate Senior Bowl?

Howie Roseman Andy Reid isn’t going to the Senior Bowl but I don’t know what’s so important here in Philadelphia that would stop him from going to Mobile, Alabama for this week’s workouts.

Does it make sense to trust an inexperienced Howie Roseman to make the call on those players?  I don’t feel comfortable with that situation but Reid must know something that I don’t.

This draft has a huge importance to a team which was made to look like a joke by the Dallas Cowboys.

I think the Dallas game should have taught the Birds that they need to get bigger and more physical.  The need a few, big, dominant players upfront to put them over the top.

It’s that simple.  They can’t continue to make mistakes upfront with defensive lineman like Victor Abiamiiri and Trevor Laws who were both drafted in the second round but have done nothing to help the football team.

They need a dominant pass rusher opposite Trent Cole and they can’t afford to screw up anymore top picks.

If they get the draft right, they could vault to the top of the conference.  If they get it wrong, they’ll be stuck in the playoffs but not being able to bring home a chamipionship.

How can you trust this to a youngster like Roseman who is still cutting his teeth?  Roseman who came to the Eagles without any football background and is now in line to be the team’s general manager.

I’m not one of those guys who doesn’t think a guy can come from the front office and learn the football part of the operation and be a great GM, but it’s a very difficult thing to do.

We make a big deal about the mistakes which players make but the truth is the mistakes by the front office are more important.

Imagine what a difference the last decade would have been like here in Philadelphia if the Eagles had drafted ReggieWayne or Chad Johnson, instead Freddie Mitchell in the 2001 draft.

Last year Roseman was promoted to be the vice president of player personnel of the football team despite an absence of a football background.  He’s been with the Birds for nearly a decade so they obvioulsy think he’s learned a lot during that time.
