Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl quarterback Kurt Warner is expected announce his retirement on Friday.
It could mean that there’s opening at the starting quarterback spot in Phoenix. The Cardinals have lefty and former Heisman trophy winner Matt Leinart, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to trade for Donovan McNabb to fill that position.
The Cardinals have to feel that they’re a Super Bowl hopeful next year because they’ve been to the playoffs two years in a row and they went to the Super Bowl a couple of years ago.
They will still have some great weapons to work with offensively with Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin at wide receiver along with running backs, Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells.
They have a talented defense which hasn’t been as consistent as they’re capable of being.
McNabb has an off season home in the Phoenix area, so he already knows the area and Cardinals players.
Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt is even a neighbor of McNabb’s.
