Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb haven’t won a Super Bowl together but they’ve gone to the playoffs in eight of the 11 seasons they’ve been together.
They are the third winningest team in the league during that period behind the Colts and the Patriots. They are second only to the Colts when it comes to going to the playoffs.
McNabb has made over a $100 million dollars during his time with the Eagles. Reid has made about $50 million during that time.
If somebody had helped you win that much and make that amount of money would you throw them overboard.
Yesterday McNabb told the media in South Florida that Reid had told him that he would be here in much the same way that he told the media publicly.
I don’t think any of us realize how close the relationship is between Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb. I know there have been times that I have talked to McNabb about his relationship to Reid and their conversations don’t seem like simply player and coach.
I don’t know that I believe that Reid would look McNabb in the eye and lie to him after all they’ve been through together.
It’s easy for all the rest of us to say get rid of McNabb but our jobs won’t suffer greatly if that turns out to be a bad decision.
You may believe their time together hasn’t been successful but you can see why there’s a strong argument that they have been.
