Eagles Name Howie Roseman As Their New GM

Roseman The Eagles have officially named Howie Roseman to be their new general manager.  Roseman spent most of the week in Mobile, Alabama where he scouted the talent in this year’s Senior Bowl.

He’ll be doing a new conference this afternoon at the Nova Care complex in Philadelphia.

I hope he’s up to the job because he didn’t come to the Eagles with any football background.  He was hired to help work with the salary cap now he’ll play a big role in selected the team’s personnel.

Andy Reid and Joe Banner obviously have a great deal of confidence in him.  I just hope they’re right or this franchise could suffer greatly for it.

Now in his 11th year in Philadelphia, Roseman spent the last two seasons as the team’s vice president of player personnel. As the team’s general manager, he will maintain a very similar role, working closely with head coach Andy Reid in all aspects of the player personnel department.

He will manage the college and pro scouting staffs, organize draft meetings and the draft board, scout the top collegiate players around the country and assist in formulating the team’s roster throughout the year.

The 34-year-old Roseman originally joined the Eagles in 2000 as salary cap/staff counsel. He was elevated to director of football administration in 2003 and to vice president of football administration in 2006.

In this role, Roseman worked in the personnel department evaluating players around the NFL and for the draft. He also represented the team to the NFL on contract, salary cap, and player personnel matters.

Roseman earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida before earning a JD degree from Fordham Law School. Howie and his wife, Mindy, reside in Philadelphia with their son, Jake, and their daughter, Emma.
