I was just reading an article on SportingNews.com about Peyton Manning closing in on being the greatest quarterback of all-time.
I think Manning can already make a legitimate claim to being the greatest regular season quarterback of all-time but he needs at least three rings to surpass Joe Montana and Tom Brady who I would rank above him as NFL quarterbacks.
Isn’t it supposed to be all about the rings?
Manning is just one game above .500 as a playoff quarterback. How could you be the greatest of all-time but suffer so many setbacks when everything was on the line.
Manning and the Colts have been one and done in too many playoff appearances to call him the greatest of all-time.
He was also given the MVP trophy in the Super Bowl that the Colts won. Their defense played great and scored a touchdown on an interception, while his running backs had great games.
I’m told that Tony Dungy had a talk with him after he forced a throw and threw an interception in the game which influenced him to throw the ball to his backs.
If Manning gets to three of them, I might be ready to put him at the top.
