The St. Louis Rams have been one of the teams which has been mentioned in rumors about which NFL teams are interested in Eagles backup quarterback Michael Vick.
Stltoday.com has an article up which tells that yesterday Rams head coach and former Eagles defensive coach Steve Spagnuolo surprised everybody by talking publicly about Vick.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for Michael as a player,” Spags said. “Everything I’ve heard out of Philadelphia is kind of good. We haven’t gone down that road in our process yet. I think he’s a terrific player.”
He went on to talk about the teams quarterback situation.
“I tell you what, good bad or indifferent, nobody wants to go through a season and play three quarterbacks,” Spagnuolo said. “But the way I look at it is we know a lot about our three quarterbacks. Kyle is a free agent, but I think Kyle is a pretty good football player. We found out a lot about Keith Null, and we certainly know a lot about Marc. Now, unfortunately, he got hurt. … We have some options at quarterback.”
The fact that Spagnuolo and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur have a relationship with Andy Reid and his staff, so chances are that he will be able to get quite a bit of information about Vick.
I believe the relationships between these coaches will allow them to talk without the information leaking to the media.
Marc Bulger, Kyle Boller and Keith Null are the top two quarterbacks who have been playing for the Rams.
