Donovan McNabb Trade Countdown Day 44

McNabb This is the 44th day of the Donovan McNabb trade watch.  The Eagles have 44 days to trade McNabb or bring him back as the starter for the 2010 season.

This is what everybody seems to care about here in Philly, so we might as well put it out there front and center.

As I have said repeatedly, the Eagles would have to have a number one draft pick for McNabb, therefore the deal must be done by the morning or afternoon of the 22nd of April, 2010.

I don’t know that it’s going to be a good move but it’s clearly one that a lot of Eagles fans want.  There’s no telling what we’re headed for but I think the Birds will do a deal if they get the right offer.

The draft is at night for the first time in history this year, which will give the Eagles a few more hours to get the deal done if indeed they want to do it.

As for the possible suitors, there were a few developments.

Favre and ChildressBrad Childress went to visit Brett Favre in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  He seems to be willing to give Favre all the time he needs to decide whether he wants to play any more or not.

I guess he also probably used the time to do more bounding with the future Hall of Famer.  At this point Minnesota could still be a landing spot for McNabb.

There’s also a chance the Vikings could let Favre string them along, then say he doesn’t want to play any more a week or so prior to training camp.

I still think a deal could get done then between the Eagles and the Vikings because of the relationship between Andy Reid and Childress.

The Cardinals have brought San Diego Chargers third string quafrterback Charlie Whitehurst in to take a look at him.  He was tendered on a 3rd round level so the Cards could sign him with little ramifications.

Or course if Arizona were to sign Whitehurst that would give them another possible starter and could lessen the chances of them being interested in McNabb.

Add to that Derek Anderson who was cut by the Browns today.  Reports are circulating that the Cards will feverishly pursue Anderson with the hopes that they can sign him and battle Matt Leinart for the starting job or back him up.
