Stacy Andrews Had His Contract Restructured

Andrews According to Derrick Gunn of Comcast Sportsnet, the Eagles have restructured Stacy Andrews’ contract by reducing his base salary but keeping his big April roster bonus in place.

He will make $1.1 million dollars in base salary this season as compared to the previous deal of $3 million.  The $4.1 million roster bonus he will receive in April makes the salary reduction acceptable.

The reason for this reduction in pay is the way Andrews played or didn’t play this past season.  He started early in the season, but was eventually benched.

The guard/tackle said his health and getting used to playing guard again was the reason for his struggles.

I hope he’s right because the Birds need improved guard play from him on that right side because the guy that took his spot last year, Nick Cole, has to play center until Jamaal Jackson recovers from knee surgery.

Andrews I don’t know how good of a football player Stacy Andrews is right now.  He was awful during the time he played last year but I will admit that he wasn’t healthy when he was out there.

Andrews rushed back from a knee surgery and it’s understandable.  He was with a new team that had just given him a major payday, so you know he wanted to show them he was willing to do whatever he needed to do to play.

I never saw him put all of his weight on that injured knee, get leverage and push off.  An offensive lineman has to have some explosion in his legs or he can’t move those big defensive tackles off the ball.

I saw him buckled backwards by defensive tackles when he tried to fire out at them.  This has to change.

He had better improve this time around or they’re going to further reduce his pay to the point where he’s not on the team.
