Skins Sign Larry Johnson To Back Up Portis

Johnson The Washington Redskins signed free agent veteran running back Larry Johnson today to a three-year deal.  He will back up starting running back Clinton Portis for the Skins.

It’s a good thing he’s over the hill and that the Skins offensive line is a joke or the signing might be something to be concerned about.

He can still run with power but he doesn’t have much of a burst, so you don’t have to worry about him taking anything outside and around the corner.

Mike Shanahan is drafting him based on what he did years ago as a Kansas City Chief against his Denver Broncos teams.¬† He’s not the same player as he was back then.

The biggest questions surrounding the Skins concerns what they will do with their first round draft pick.

First of all, what do they think of Jason Campbell.  Do they think they can win big with him?

If so they’ll grab one of the those offensive tackles to replace retired former Pro Bowler Chris Samuels at left tackle and be done with it.

SamuelsOn a side note, I’m sure Trent Cole is glad to see Samuels retire because he owned Trent during their battles.¬† He had the quickness and athleticism to match Cole.¬† Trent owns those big tackles because he out-quicks them.

Let’s get back to the Skins draft.

If they don’t like Campbell enough, then the Sam Bradford and Jimmy Clausen come into play.

The first question that comes up is:

What do they think of the two top quarterback prospects?  Do they like both of them or just one of them is worth picking at number four?  Which one is it Bradford or Clausen?

Do they like Braford much more than Clausen, so they’ll decide to take Bradford if he’s there and if he’s not there, they’ll take one of the offensive tackles.

We won’t know until the draft unless they trade up to make sure they get the quarterback they like.
