There are no questions that the selection committeed looks a lot of factors that don’t have anything to do with how good each basketball team is right now as they make up their list of 65.
Although Villanova has lost five of their last seven, the selection committee gave them a two-seed in the NCAA tournament. Jay Wright and company needs to thanks the guys from last year’s team, which went to the Final Four for that seeding.
How does a Temple team which is ranked 17th in nation and wins the Atlantic-10 tournament be given only a fifth-seed? These boys were robbed.
Maybe earlier in the season Nova was one of the top eight teams but how could youi say that about them recently. They have lost five of their last seven games.
Still I think they’re going to do well in the tournament based on where they’re playing.
If they can get themselves back together I believe this squad could get all the way to the Final Four, but they need to send a note to the selection committee to thank them.
Nova’s guards are the key. They can take over a game and make the plays down the stretch to win close ones.
Nova should have no trouble in the first round when they meet 15the seeded Robert Morris.
On the other hand the Temple Owls were given the short end of the stick as a five-seed because of the fact that they don’t have any big names.
It tells you that this past week’s tournaments were totally disregarded as far as the Owls were concerned. Plus, this Owls team beat Villanova earlier in the season, yet Nova is a two-seed and Temple is a five-seed.
You can’t tell me it’s all about basketball. Nova has the name nationwide. They were in the Final Four a year ago, so that helped them this year.
The Owls are no longer coached by John Chaney so Fran Dunphy and his troops are going to have to re-establish that Temple mystique.
They’ll have a first round matchup with Ivy League champion Cornell. This Cornell squad is a pretty good team and one of the better teams to come out of the Ivy League in a good while.
The Owls should be able take care of Cornell but not if they play like they did at the end of that Richmond game.
If they get caught sleeping they’ll be one and done because Cornell is dangerous and they have nothing to lose.
