GCobb.com – 2010 NFL Mock Draft – Number 7

The Eagles have a serious problem at the safety, linebacker and defensive end positions but there’s no guarantee that the player they want will be on the board when they pick.

That’s why I wouldn’t be surprised if the Birds were to draft at a different position which they value and where they could get the guy they coveted.

This is the case with Florida center Maurkice Pouncey.  He is by far the best player at his position in the draft and he could probably step in and start out at guard, until he takes over from Jamaal Jackson.

You can bet the Eagles have started to count on Jackson after his suffered a knee injury.¬† I don’t know how quickly Jackson is recovering from knee surgery, but you can bet that the Birds front office knows.

The Eagles are in desperate shape at right guard with Nick Cole and Stacy Andrews manning the position, so I could see them drafting Pouncey as more depth at the spot.

The Eagles also need somebody to block the Cowboys All-Pro nose tackle, Jay Ratliff.  Pouncey could be the man.
