Phils Give Brad Lidge A Cortisone Injection

Philly.com is reporting that the Phils have had to give Brad Lidge a cortisone injection because of he has had soreness on the exterior of his elbow.

The Phils closer hasn’t been able to throw nearly as hard he needs to, if he’s going to be the Phils closer this season. The doctor said the soreness he had was not related to the off season surgery he had on his arm.

The doctors operated on the interior of his elbow.

Still there’s reason to be concerned.¬† Last week GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Moyer wouldn’t be ready for the season opener.

He left the time open with regards to how long it would take for him to return.  He said it could miss two weeks to a month of the season.

The bullpen and more specifically the closer role is the biggest question mark the Phils have going into the season.

We’ll have to wait to see how it works out.
