Today’s Articles About Trading Of Donovan McNabb

If you haven’t had enough of talk¬† about the Eagles trading Donovan McNabb, we’ve got more of it here for you.¬† There are many opinions about the Eagles dealing of McNabb to Washington.

Simms: Redskins will utilize Donovan McNabb better than Eagles

Former Super Bowl MVP quarterback Phil Simms believes Mike Shanahan and the Redskins will do a better job of utilizing McNabb than Andy Reid has done over the years.

This is in direct contradiction to what Brian Baldinger had to say yesterday.

“I would think they all went into their little conference room at Redskins Park,” Simms said, “shut the door, looked at each other and started jumping up and down, high fiving, jumping around and going ‘Alright! We got him!’

McNabb compares Eagles and Redskins Fans

There’s an article on WashingtonPost.com with McNabb giving a politically correct answer to a question about Redskins fans and Eagles fans.¬† I could see McNabb trying to tell everybody what they want to hear.

He won’t be grilled as much in D.C. as he was in Philly.¬† He won’t have to win a Super Bowl down there to be appreciated because he won’t be there as long as he was here.

If he can get them to the playoffs, the heat won’t turn up on him.

Eagles decision-makers must be held accountable

Stephen A. Smith goes after the Eagles front office now that they have traded away Donovan McNabb.  He focuses his attack on Birds owner Jeffrey Lurie and demands that he take responsibility for why this team has come up short of a Super Bowl championship for more than a decade.

Smith puts Lurie and the Birds front office on notice that they must take the fall if Kevin Kolb doesn’t bring a Super Bowl title home to Philadelphia.

Donovan McNabb was disrespected in Philadelphia from beginning to end

Josh Folck Of Lehigh Valley Sports tells us how Donovan McNabb began his career being disrespected by Philly fans and ended his career being disrespected by the Eagles front office.

He balances his piece by talking about McNabb’s shortcomings but he believes number Five should have been given a lot more credit for being a centerpiece of the most successful decade in Eagles history.

McNabb’s father marvels at timing of son’s Easter trade

Sam McNabb talks about the meaning he took from the fact that his son’s career was resurrected on Easter Sunday.

Kolb’s parents excited about son as Eagles’ new starting QB

Before Sam and Wilma McNabb can leave town, Les Bowen of¬† Philly.com wrote an article about Kevin Kolb’s parents Roy and Lanell.¬† As you would expect, his dad is very proud of his son.

He’s confident Kevin will be able to deal with the pressure of the job and battle through the challenges.

I like the fact that it seems that they are going to stay in the background.¬† McNabb’s parents were out front and visible from the start of Donovan’s career here.

They made things more difficult for the ir son, as the team failed to get over the hump.¬† I hope the Kolb’s will learn from that.

Why would’nt the Redskins front office be high fiving and jumping up and down after landing McNabb? Take these names into consideration before you answer…Gus Frerotte, Brad Johnson, Patrick Ramsey, Mark Brunell, Jason Campbell.

“He balances his piece by talking about McNabb‚Äôs shortcomings but he believes number Five should have been given a lot more credit for being a centerpiece of the most successful decade in Eagles history.”

Are you kidding me? McNabb was idolized more than any sports figure in this town for the past 10 years. He was loved and hated just like any great player in this city has been. We lived and died with McNabb for a decade. We cheered his achievements with the franchise, but we also criticized his flaws much like the many sports reports have done in the numerous stories about him. You can not even begin to argue that the city did not appreciate Donovan McNabb. The entire city of Philadelphia was won over by the Syracuse alum. We were blinded by “wants” instead of “needs” on draft day. But after that day, we were fully supportive and fully behind #5.

After 10 years, things start to get a little testy in any relationship. McNabb’s relationship with the fans was becoming stagnant. But in no way did we not appreciate everything he did for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Go back to your cave Josh Flock. Who are you again??

This happens in cycles…In the late 80’s early 90’s the Eagles had the dominant team in the NFC east yet the 3 teams Giants, Redskins, Cowboys who were chasing Buddy’s squad eventually won the Super Bowl…the blame fell on the only bright spot of the team Cunningham then soon after that..The spin machine of the Eagles Brass led by “Spud” hyped the bright future of the Eagles under “THE GOLDEN BOY” Bobby Hoying. Now we sit here as Eagles fans and ignore the obvious. The Eagles receivers will turn on the quarterback now there’s no veteran to keep them in check, while the eagles defense get toasted with no proven pass rush besides one man, and a suspect secondary that can not tackle, and the cherry on top is when we see Mcnabb hoisting the Lombardi trophy with a proven Super bowl caliber Coach Mike Shanahan smiling under the confetti with an owner who was willing to put his money where his mouth was and bring a championship back to D.C.

Under Lurie. Banner, and Reid, The Giants won a Superbowl with the help of Mike Caldwell former eagle…..The Cowboys kicked the snot out of the Eagles compliments of our team (Spencer)..draft pick given to Cowboys and traded down to get (Hoying) cough (Kolb) and now The Redskins with a legitimate defense get’s it missing piece, “A franchise quarterback” compliments of the Eagles. Things go in cycles and one thing remains constant. The Eagles can have the better teams for a time but will not seize the opportunity to take it step forward pay the guy that may make a difference or retain their proven talent by rewarding them to keep the team morale in tact. This team will never win a championship. But yet we’ll be there cheering them. What a vicious cycle.

Songs nice perspective with some good points. You’re right it has been a vicious cycle. Lets hope they can break it.

It will be interesting to see McNabb play on a team that actually runs the ball consistently.

The more I read this stuff the more I’m starting to want to move down to the DC metro area. I mean, the “Negadelphia” is far reaching and clearly penetrates some people deeply enough to trade away one of the rarest of ingredients for a for a SuperBowl run and a Superbowl win. Will Philadelphia football fans EVER see a championship?

At the very least I’ll pick up my Redskins gear this week. (and I HATE Burgundy and Yellow)

…Well probably I’ll just get a McNabb jersey.

Until Kevin Kolb becomes a legit NFL QB….then Songs you can go sing your whiny tunes in another city…

Your arguement is flawed…becuase there is no obvious thing to ignore. How about this for an example? In the late 90’s the New Englad Patriots were at the top of their division with a QB by the name of Drew Beldsoe. As the team started to decline in performance in the late 90’s the Patriots “brass” sold their team on the bright future of the team under a 7th round draft pick named Tom Brady as they began the new millennium. The fans only knew this man as they guy who didn’t start at Michigan.

Turns out that this guy just so happened to make them the best team in the past 10 years.

The point is you have no idea what kind of QB Kevin Kolb is going to be. He very well can be a Hoying, but he can also very well be a Brady. (or anywhere in between)

What team are you watching to think that the Eagles receivers will turn on the QB? We THROW THE BALL 65% of the time. As a receiver, you can’t be upset about that despite who the hell is throwing the ball, they will get theirs believe me.

Also, I’m willing to bet you $500 that McNabb will not hoist a Lombardi trophy in Washington.

And i’m tired of this Anthony Spencer arguement. Listen, even if we didn’t trade that pick we wouldn’t of drafted Anthony Spencer. He didn’t fit our scheme and he still doesn’t. So enough about that crap already…

yeah – just enjoying the chatter – for all those football scholars out there – the Redskins, Mike Shanahan, hired his son Kyle to be his O Coordinator – you know – the guy that was the O Coordinator at Houston last year.. the guy that, with Matt Schaub as a QB, threw 583 times, but only tried to run it about 360 times (total rushes does not include QB runs) so… McNabbs new O Coordinator had about a 62/38 run pass ratio. I really don’t think Kyle Shanahan is going to change his style of offense , I think his dad hired him to bring in his style of offense –

I wish I could fight every single asshole out there that hates on us for being “idiots” for wanting this guy, who had ELEVEN!!! years to get it done, gone. All they’ve ever pushed was pens so it wouldn’t be hard to give them the ass-whooping they SOOO righteously deserve. McNabb, in the Super Bowl, played an entire series 7:15 in the first quarter, without his chin strap strapped!!!! What an idiot!!

I think this will be a good move for McNabb, hopefully the skins have established leaders there already so he won’t have to carry that moniker. He says he’s the leader but we all know that;s not a role he excells at.

Trading within the division probably won’t work out as well for the eagles, especially considering the fact that there is noway that the stubborn inventor of football (A.R.) will change his beloved philosophy. Don’t kid youselves if you don’t think the Skins will exploit this fact, especially since McNabb has been in this offense (that hasn’t changed) in 11 years.

The only bright spot is, this team is so predictable, other teams are already figuring it out on there own.

By the way, McNabb and his family and maybe ultimately his career have striking similarities to Eric Lindro’s career

JM – switch to decaf – not sure who your comment was directed at, but threating fights (and no you don’t wish you could fight everyone, and no, no person deserves a butt whooping over a differing opinion of a game or team) If you are refering to my comment, I have noticed many comments under several posts lately that discuss the ‘old’ Mike Shanahan, you know the one that won SBs in 97 and 98 and then during the next 10 years after that won exactly one playoff game and then got fired after failing to qualify for the playoffs the last three years he coached in Denver, and how that Mike Shanahan was going to ‘use’ McNabb correctly and not be all pass happy – I was simply pointing out to those comment writers that old Mike hired young Kyle, and Kyle likes to pass, that’s it. As for me, the day the trade was announced I no longer had an opinion of McNabb other then I enjoyedthe time he was here – Kolb is going to be a great NFL QB, and I am looking forward to the season! KOlb has a great skill set – I would also point out to those that think this will somehow change the playcalling – Houston was a high pass to run ratio offense, they did a lot of throwing on the run (this is different then throwing while running – something I really didn’t Mcnabb was good at – its a footwork thing) so I think 60/40 is about as good as you are going to get

no worries mate – hard when you don’t have the reply button. I took some time off ’cause I was getting frustrated with some of the nonsense getting posted. I have been a big McNabb AND Kolb fan (not so much Vick, I would have prefered if Feeley was around). Kolb can do a number of things better then I think McNabb could. I think this could be one of those trades that works out for both teams. Guys that wanted McNabb gone aren’t dumb or idiots. I disagreed with the logic (he had 11 years), but Kolb is gonna do some great things (I am the eternal optimist). If AR can get his pass to run ration to 57/43,58/42 that will help – anything better then that is a dream.

The Stephen A Smith article was stupid. He has no clue about anything other than how to piss off loyal fans. He writes his opinion and we all know that opinions are like A$$ Holes, everyone has one and they all stink. I wish I had his job because I think I am more interesting. Heck I think Paulman and Navyeagle are just as knowledgeable as S A$$ Smith.

Did anybody see Domo from the daily news had Kolb ranked 16th among Qb’s LOL after two starts wow. For us true Eagle fans boy I hope he’s right but seriously I love Donovan but he’s gone and he could throw for 600 yards in both games against the Eagles as long as we win. I’ll be rooting for him every week except two.

First off…Donovan McNabb and Eric Lindros have absolutely nothing in common, except for probably their secret dislike of a lot of bandwagon jumping Phillie sports fans (…yeah, that was intentionally misspelled to get people thinking about Jimmy Rollins “infamous” quote.)

The Flyers were competitive before Lindros got here and Lindros was viewed as the missing piece which is why they did the crazy Roy Williams type deal to get him here. The Eagles, just flat out sucked before McNabb. While McNabb’s family was visible in the media his Dad was not his agent. McNabb and his family did not launch a frontal media assault on the Eagles organization the Lindros’ did, albeit in both situations the criticism is/was deserved. It’s just two completely different situations.

He’s gone get over it and move on. I don’t want to see another McNabb comment on this page till we play Washington.

And yes if you had a link to registor to sign in after your page went to the last new format I would have because Paulman is driving me nuts. My guss is that Paulman and that ‘Fade to black’ guy that use to post are the same stupid person.

Paulman name the top 10 Eagles of all time….wait name the top 10 Eagles of all time that were not Panthers.

Reagle – thanks ( I think) and I take it with great pride to be compared favorably with my buddy Paulman! On the Smith article – I agree it was stupid. The win lose record is what holds the team accountable, the win or lose in the playoffs holds the team accountable, and winning or losing the Super Bowl holds the team accountable. You can’t hide from any of those things. Laurie is the boss, and he isn’t going to hire or fire anyone unless he thinks its going to help his team win the SB. And I think Laurie gets up every day hating the fact Bud Kraft has won a bunch and he has none, and for all you people saying the dollar is what matters, Laurie knows how much MORE value this team will have if they host playoff games and win the SB. I have never once heard Ried ever blame a lose on anyone, I was shocked he talked about Samuels tackling, and after I read the actual comment from Samuel, I did not take it as a slap back at the eagles, but more a statement of fact – everyone in the organization needs to do better (does anyone disagree with that – I don’t, I think its an honest assessment) – nothing wrong or incorrect about that. Not sure why some people get so fired up over this kind of stuff, but now the decision is made – much like MattDaddy and most of the Eagle players quoted – its over, done, lets talk about the draft and what we can get with that 2nd rd pick –

EagleBeliever..come on guy. Drew Bledsoe is not McNabb and Kolb will never be Tom Brady. The next things is you’ll say Reid can be Belechick. Now, that Mcnabb is gone the whole organization we all love will be exposed. Don’t forget it was Ray Rhode’s defensive players JJ used to keep the Eagles in gameS while McNabb developed. What defense will cover Reid’s rear end and give Kolb an opportunity to grow? You said the receivers will not revolt…just watch. Mini T.O. will soon show his colors when Kolb get picked like corn. We’ll at least have our glory days memory under Mcnabb while we are cutting out the eye holes of our crispy paper bags. “THE GOLDEN STANDARD”

I’m surprised Gary hasn’t reported here on the Brian Baldinger quote. That’s a secretly bitter, angry and probably racist dude. What other kind of person echoes the same baseless opinion that Rush Limbaugh has publicly shared? At a certain level I know that he always felt that his career was “cut short”, it was my understanding that that he was lobbying for at least two years after he got cut by the Eagles to get back in and his disposition apparently fit that of a bitter scorned man.

Once I heard him say “Look at that little Donovan go” during a game he was a commentator for (maybe it was preseason) my opinion of the guy went south. The comment “Look at that little monkey go” is viewed as racist when directed at African-Americans and pushed Howard freakin Cosell off of “Monday Night Football.” I believe there’s another sports commentator that was fired for using that same stupid phrase in basketball commentating, but I can’t remember his name.

Hopefully, someone with media clout has the balls to be the whistler blower on Brian Baldinger this time around.

Butch you are so wrong. Race has nothing to do with considering McNabb overrated. Do you know Baldinger personally? I would be careful about starting a race based “witch hunt”.
