Jason LaConfora of NFL Network reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers have had internal discussions about trading Ben Roethlisberger and they are  open to listening to offers for him.
LaConfora says he source told him, “The Rooneys are livid”.
They haven’t talked about trading him to other teams yet, but they have discussed it in the front office.¬† I would imagine with the news going out that they’re willing to listen to offers will cause some NFL GM’s get on the phone.
Last night Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports sent out the folling tweet:¬† “Rooneys R always sensitive to fan discontent, but even more so in this economic environment. The growing Ben backlash in town is troubling.”
Peter King doesn’t think the Steelers are ready to trade Big Ben but he does think the big fella is headed to a suspension.
The Steelers tried to quietly sit and wait for the Roethlisberger storm to blow over but they’ve realized that their fan based is is furious.¬† They don’t know if they’re going to be able to calm them down, but today they’re going to try to do something about it.
They issued a press release:¬† “Steelers president Art Rooney, II will be available at 2:30 p.m. today to provide an update on the Ben Roethlisberger matter at Steelers headquarters at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex.”
There are people around the league who believe the Steelers will suspend him today for two games because of the avalanche of negative publicity and fan outrage.
We’ll see what he has to say.

A couple of teams who may be interested in Big Ben.. would be the Bills,Raiders,Cardinals (remember that much of the Cardinal Coaching staff were at Pittsburgh a couple years back) and maybe a dark horse could be the 49ers…(who do have 2 1st Rd selections)
