I don’t see any way the Philadelphia Eagles stay put at the 24th spot in Thursday’s NFL Draft.
I think the Eagles are going to make a trade with the Miami Dolphins who want to acquire more picks in this draft, and move up to draft Texas safety Earl Thomas.
They’re going to give up quite a bit to get their guy: #24, #55 and their 3rd round pick next year.

Awesome mock G….except you got Kyle Wilson getting picked at 14 and 19.
Nice catch med.
Mike Mayock said today on the mid day show he thinks the Eagles would be wise to stay put and take Dan Williams. I agree even though I would love to see Thomas the Eagles got exposed those last two games the cowboys ran rite through the middle of that defense. A run stuffing DT would look great in midnight green. Maybe they will finally get one they have started to change there thinking the past 2 seasons.
They finally draft playmakers early in the draft.
And they see the need for better LBs by getting Witherspoon last year and Sims this year.
Maybe they will finally get that run stuffer
TEF – our DTs are good against the run, we got beat up the middle when they would rotate out and bring in Howard and I think Abrami with the nickel package (Trotter left the field) – this is one area I think having Bradley back will really help – and hopefully all three LBs are like this – we don’t have a ‘run’ LB corp and a ‘pass’ LB corp – the Cowboys hit us in all three games with that delayed draw or the quick WR screen – it killed us. That said – I wouldn’t mind a 6’3 335 lb Dt to challeneg Laws in the later rds
Yes they did beat them with the run and pass. But if they could stop the run they would have created more 2nd, 3rd and longs. 1st down is were they ran the most and Patterson and Bunkley were in at that time they are undersized DTs that cant even smell the QB if they are gonna go with undersized DTs they should at least get them some sacks. You know they need a big guy in the middle.
Getting Witherspoon was a really bad move. We lost Brandon Gibson who ended up having a pretty good rookie year in KC. We also gave up a 5th rounder that we could have used in 2 days. If they had just left him there, it wouldn’t had made that much of a difference. I like what Gary did with the trade to Miami. Earl Thomas is hope I am so hoping the Eagles end up getting. He will be our playmaker in the middle. Maybe we could get Myron Rolle in the later rounds as he is projected to go between 3 and 6. Would love to see him on the field next to Thomas eventually. Move Harris back to CB. He is a playmaker, just had a hard time at FS, where he really has never played. Move up from pick #37 to nab Kareem Jackson. I don’t think he will still be there by the time we pick. Getting Kyle Wilson would be really great, but that would be a reach to move up that far twice. Maybe we can trade Asante Samuel and get a 2nd and something later like a 4th. 2 more days. Just be Thursday already!!
Plus there is some good talent DB’s and DE’s available in the mid rounds that I think have great value. Take Linval Joseph. The report on workouts that the Daily News had him at 6’4″ and 328. He is 6’6″ 328. The guy has a non stop motor and will get to the QB. Put him next to Bunkley and they will get the up front locked down. He is also good against the run. Darryl Tapp is also very good against the run. Eagles fans need to give him a chance.
What is with all this trade Samuel stuff does anyone want to win this year. The defense isnt that good. They got rid of S Brown. Do you people who are trying to run him out of town want to go into the year with two unproven rookie CBs. The Eagles defense is built on having good CBs. They need them so they can blitz which is the only way they get pressure on the QB. Sameul is a top 5 CB in the league he is a horrible tackler but he gets INTS and can cover top WRs.
We still have Ellis Hobbs. But top 5 corner in the league..No. Maybe top 25. You have to be a physical corner who tackles to get into the top 5. He has worn out his welcome with fans who miss the Eagles having the corners who were physical and QB’s were actually afraid to throw around. If we can get value for him, I think we should move him for a better rookie like Kareem Jackson or Kyle Wilson. Dick Jaron will do amazing things with our DB’s, so I have no worries about the Eagles starting rookies at corner. He gets beat a lot also. Look at Giants vs Patriots Superbowl 2007. Got toasted a lot that game then we turn around and sign him and his partner across from him
I guess all the coaches and players dont know as much about the NFL as you cause they have voted him to the Pro Bowl the past 2 seasons.
Yeah this trading Samuel is BS….he was brought in to get his hands on the football not tackle…he’s what like 150lbs with pads on? Tackling was not required for the amount of money he got. Samuel is here to stay so all the haters better get used to it.
The talk of getting rid of Asante kind of goes against all the ‘playmaker’ posts that have been coming around lately – he makes big plays, creates turnovers. Yeah – he does get burned – because he takes chances – don’t want him to get beat on a double move – don’t give the Qb time. Lets see what Dick Jauron can do with him.
Samuel has apparently made a lot of people take interceptions for granted. He gets them on a regular basis, and now nobody likes them. He’s got clear flaws. He really does. But with a functional MLB, better Sam and Saftey play, and a more decent LDE, Asante’s weaknesses become negligible.
I don’t see that move happening although having Thomas would be good. If DT Dan Williams has a chance to still be on the board at 24 then it would be wiser to stay put and draft him. Than focus on the secondary with the 2 2nd’s. Can we just skip to thursday 7pm? Im tired of waiting
NO WAY DALLAS picks WEATHERSPOON over ANTHONY DAVIS!!!!! Didn’t you see the Vikings maul their OLT? Are you nuts?
Samuel will play for the Eagles in 2010 I believe, he is their biggest playmaker the have on defense.
I agree the Eagles will move up but how far. They cannot take a center in round 1 unless they use the 37th and another pick to move up.
