In a Fan Forum conference call with Andy Reid, Jeremy Maclin, Stewart Bradley and Merrill Reese on Tuesday, Philadelphia Eagles’ season-ticket holders got a chance to chat with members of the organization and ask questions.
Someone asked Bradley how his knee was coming along and Eagles fans should be delighted at the news.
“I’m coming along great, and in fact I was just cleared by the doctors to practice this weekend,” said Bradley. “I am really excited to get back on the field. I don’t think I will have any limitations.”
Bradley will suit up for this Friday’s minicamp, but I’m pretty sure they are going to ease him back in. Cleared to play or not, he should be in bubble wrap at this point.
“I’ve missed the game, the competition,” Bradley said. “I can’t wait to get it started.”
And for anyone that took a gander at the Eagles’ linebacking play last year, it’s a safe bet that the team can’t wait for you to get started either, Stew.
Thank goodness Stew is back, hopefully ready to go full speed come gameday. If the day ever comes that Im not broke Im def gettin that Stewart Bradley jersey.
Lets go 55 time to be a beast and push this defense forward!!!
This is positive news.
Great news indeed,
Just a random thought,
SInce the Eagles picked-up so many LB’s this draft, trades, etc,
I wonder if Bradley can play CB…
Easy on the ‘roids this time around Stew. Remember, your muscles get bigger but your ligaments stay the same.
Paul Mancini- I think we are better at CB than you think. If we need that one stud guy look for FA or 1st and 2nd round next year.
Don’t dismiss that Samuel and Hobbs were starters on a team that one 19 straight games. Now that may be misleading given differences in competition you have to feel good. Also Marlin Jackson can play corner. So Allen and Mikell at the safeties and Samuel and Jackson at corner with Hobbs and Hanson as Nickle and Dime starters not to shabby.
JMac, supposedly Equipoise strengthens connective tissue. Been told that, never tried it.
I hope your right RegalEagle,
I always thought that Hobbs was a better nickle back than an everydown back..
His tackling has always been average at best, though he does have speed, but coming off that neck injury and surgery, who knows how this effects his agressiveness and tackling moving forward..
If he starts and plays well, than that’s a bonus to me, but I am not counting on this to occur..
If Nate Allen gets up to speed quickly (which I think he will), then I think M Jackson becomes the Starter opposite of Samuel, obviously only if he recovers fully from his back to back ACL tears and suregeries the last 2 seasons,,, Again, I think that is pushing it a bit too much, I am sure he has lost a step, though he is a good tackler and probably the most physical player the Eagles have now in their Secondary (which is saying a whole lot.) Outside of these 2 , who else is going to be a starter at CB… Hanson,D Patterson are nickle backs at most, Lindley,M Harris, Q Demps are unproven and probably lack the top-end speed and techniques to be an effective starter at the NFL (especially in the NFC East where every team has 2-3-4 good WR’s)
If Hobbs/Jackson are not 100% healthy, then this Secondary is in trouble and with their recoveries from their injuries and surgeries, I just wouldn’t count on this happening, where’s plan “B” for the Eagles need to have a back-up plan ready by Summer Camp
Paul Man- I agree this is not the most comfortable situation with our secondary but it’s only one year and Sheldon just was done anyway (UNFORTUNATELY). I am willing to bet we grab 1-2 corners high next year in the draft. There is only so much you can do. They decided that the front 7 was more important this year and I AGREE.
I will submit this for thought- Name the teams that have a more complete roster to compete this year. Then tell me how many years they will keep it together.
I see 1 Major weakness for the eagles- Center- and a possible weakness at CB Both of which positions have some of the older players on the team. Like I say if we play in 2011 we will truly be in a spot to make some hay. I just hope we catch that lightning this year.
I think there are a few teams who have a solid roster right now to compete for a Super Bowl
#1) NY Jets are stacked defensivley and run an efficient offense, you figure that Sanchez will only get better and now has some weapons at WR like B Edwards,S Holmes, J Crotchery and the dangerous
Brad Smith with a good RB in S Green (and L Tomlinson too) and drafted shift McKnight from USC..
#2) Colts will contend as long as Peyton Manning remains healthy, without him, they are a .500 team
#3) San Diego Chargers have a good young, confident QB in Rivers and very big, atletic WR’s and the best TE in football in Gates, their defense is not as strong as years past, but still pretty good..
#4) Ravens have put together a great all-around roster and now Flacco has some weapons to throw to
Like A Boldin,D Mason,M Clayton and D Stallworth, then put TE B Heap and draft puicks in E Dickson and D Pitta with a solid running game lef by Rice,Maghee and the big guy R McClain… I could see them
advancing deep and contend for the Super Bowl
Teams in the NFC built to win now
#1) Saints — as long as QB Brees continues to play at a high level, they will contend
#2) Vikings – Solid, experienced team all around.. the Farve factor, AP, tough Def/Line….
#3) Cowboys- very active and young Defense (besides K Brooking), good young QB and many weapons at his disposal from TE Witten. WR’s Ausin and now rookie D Bryant and a young exciting running game led by F Jones nad T Choice, still need help and depth along Off/Line and Safety
#4) Packers has one of the best all around teams but needs help along O/Line and their CB’s are starting to get old (Woodson and A Harris), but they have lots of home-grown talent and will challenge the Vikings all season long
That’s it for now, I do see lots of teams that have impoved from a year ago in the NFC like the 49ers,Seahawks,Bears,Redskins,Panthers,and even the Lions and Bucs won’ tbe gimme’s
Teams on the rise in the AFC are the Dolphins,Browns,Chiefs,Broncos,Texans,Chiefs and even the Raiders will be a better team…
I think this season we will see a bunch of teams that are between 6-10 and 10-6
I think we are just as good as any of the teams you listed Paul man. I also think that the whole idea is that the league gets to parity. Any given Sunday and whatnot. I think we as fans see the “holes” on our team but often overlook the weaknesses on opposing teams.
Example- The Cowboys have a backup starting at left tackle!
Good points Regal Eagle,
No doubt that Eagles fans are some of the most passionate and most critical of their own teams,
Weaknesses are magnified by all the local media, talk radio, blogs and passionate fans..
The Roster bring put together this off-season has been impressive. They have gotten younger, faster,
and have acquires/developed depth almost everywhere up and down the team.. The key will be staying healthy (which is every teams key) and getting production from 2-3-4 year veterans whose time it is to step up (Laws,Abriami,Demps,Harris,Kolb) and to get injured players returning back up to speed to play how they are capable of playing (Bradley,Hobbs,M Jackson,S Andrews, C Ingram)
Now you add in proven talent that was acquired like D Tapp, E Sims, M Bell who are young, hungry and have upside and throw in some contributioins from Draft Selections like Graham,Allen,Teo’,Sapp,
and the others.. You can see where this team and built not only for now, but especially for the next
4-5-6 seasons…. If they can get off to a good start this season, then watch out for they could be very good by seasons end and play with anyone…
